Comprehensive Water Test Kit

Test for pesticide and chemical contaminants that might be in your water with our Golf Course Water Home comprehensive test kit.

We use certified labs to test for common chemicals found at golf courses that can make their way into nearby water sources.

Herbicides tested (8)

2,4-D:
A widely used herbicide linked to cancers (e.g., non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma) and neurological issues, including PD

Glyphosate (aka Roundup):
Associated with potential carcinogenic and endocrine-disrupting effects.

Alachlor:
A selective herbicide for controlling grasses and broadleaf weeds. Classified as a "restricted use" herbicide due to groundwater contamination risks.

MCPP-p:
Commonly applied for broadleaf weed control.

Atrazine:
A widely used herbicide for controlling broadleaf weeds, primarily in corn fields but also on golf courses for turf management.

Simazine:
A herbicide for controlling grasses and broadleaf weeds, used in agriculture and on golf courses for turf maintenance. Linked to endocrine disruption and potential carcinogenicity. Chronic exposure may affect the liver and kidneys.

Hexachlorobenzene (HCB):
Historically used as a pre-emergent fungicide for crops, discontinued in many countries (e.g., 1970s in the U.S.) due to health and environmental concerns. Currently found as a by-product in pesticides like chlorothalonil (common on golf courses) and other chlorinated solvents. A persistent organic pollutant, HCB bioaccumulates in fat tissues, causing liver, kidney, and thyroid tumors in animal studies

Methoxychlor:
Linked to endocrine disruption, reproductive toxicity, and potential neurological effects.

Insecticides tested (4)

Chlorpyrifos:
An organophosphate linked to developmental delays and neurological issues.

Cyfluthrin:
A lower-toxicity insecticide with reduced health risks compared to older compounds like chlorpyrifos.

Imidacloprid:
A neonicotinoid harmful to pollinators. Potential neurological effects in humans

Hexachlorocyclopentadiene:
Precursor for cyclodiene pesticides (e.g., chlordane, heptachlor), not directly applied but present in residues found on golf courses.

Additional chemicals tested (1)

Chlorothalonil:
The most heavily used fungicide (by weight, ~85% of pesticide use), under review for bans in the EU, U.S., and Canada due to environmental toxicity.
